Bifurcation of Marriage
When a bifurcation of marriage occurs in dissolution, it grants a status only. This terminates the marriage or marital status however, leaves all other matters which are unsettled before the court. Generally, this leaves a pending judgment deciding all unresolved issues to be addressed later.
When a dissolution has been Bifurcated, the parties are generally free to remarry if so desired, being that they are no longer technically married to the ex. again, the bifurcation grants a “status only” dissolution leaving other outstanding matters for decision.
